Job Summary

PerkinElmer is looking for the right person to lead their Enterprise IT Infrastructure and Operations. In this role, the individual will be responsible for Implementing and supporting the strategy of PerkinElmer’s technology infrastructure globally and support in steady state.  In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and supporting the infrastructure technology, globally.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drive PerkinElmer’s strategy and business capability strategic planning. Leads the implementation and steady state support of all new infrastructure globally. This includes all compute, storage, backup globally.
  • As the Head of IT infra and Ops you will partner closely with the business teams, informing of any business technology risks and allowing for them to make confident decisions about the application of information and technology within their business units and across PerkinElmer.
  • You’re responsible for, geographically distributed infrastructure and systems including multiple data centers.  Additionally, you have significant presence at AWS, Azure and other cloud hosting vendors.
  • Build the team and processes to ensure PerkinElmer has the ability to reliably deliver cloud-based services efficiently, and on scale
  • Proactively drive short, medium and long-term operational efficiency initiatives every day that improve profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Build and monitor systems for automating product releases, data backup, maintenance, internal and external monitoring, environmental analysis, OS and software patching
  • Continually evolve and refine hosting environments for efficiency, scalability and maintainability.
  • Proactively prevent outages, improve awareness outages and remediate them quickly when they do happen
  • Drive continuous improvement – especially in triaging outages to ensure work is planned and taken into the appropriate teams to prevent each outage from recurring.
  • Develop management systems and performance measurement dashboards to transparently track performance
  • Manage and optimize the overall cost structure, TCO, and operational plan
  • Work within provided frameworks to ensure policy and procedural compliance
  • We also have some products running on prem.  Your team has key expertise which our support organization will lean on you for help with.
  • We will count on you to provide oversight on daily activities, issues and results with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • This role also requires strong understanding of practical security and compliance working in partnership with the incidence response team.
  • Deep familiarity with key technology platforms and how they can impact business scalability. Ensures I&T capabilities are delivered reliably, sustainably, cost effectively and securely. Ensures the IT contributions are delivered with agility based on changing business objectives, goals and strategies.
  • Stay current on new and emerging technologies and platforms. Provides recommendations on what future technologies should be assimilated, integrated and introduced within PerkinElmer to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of our digital business strategy.
  • Where appropriate, participate in negotiate or re-negotiate contracts with vendors and professional services providers.
  • Improve communication and collaboration throughout the organization allowing technology and systems to be facilitators of collaboration.
  • Develop, secure stakeholder buy-in, and implement an infrastructure vision as PerkinElmer embarks on a digital transformation.
  • Focus on building and improving the team, processes and service levels by defining critical improvement initiatives. 
  • Review existing processes/procedures for improvement.

Basic Qualification: (Required Education & Experience) ​

  • 15+ years of technology experience
  • 5-7+ years IT leadership experience, ideally at a global, company leading teams of similar scale

Preferred Experience:

  • Preferably proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading large, complex and or transformational initiatives in dynamic environments and taking advantage of digital opportunities to innovate business models and enable the digitalization of the business.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy and strategic planning, organization design and development.
  • Expertise in budget planning and financial management
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business and how they may be applied to the enterprise to drive digital business
  • Ability to manage geographically diverse teams and overcome the culture clashes that may arise
  • Ability to drive organizational change and build capabilities that effectively balance the needs for continuously exploiting capabilities to optimize operational efficiency, with delivering innovative and agile IT solutions to enable the business to explore digital business opportunities
  • Track record of driving change, constant improvement focus and execution ability
  • Experience in supporting SaaS software ideal
  • Ability to set and manage priorities aggressively
  • Technically astute, and up to date on all the relevant data center, security, networking, provisioning, and monitoring technologies as they relate to multi-tenant large scale web architectures.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remains in a stationary position more than 25% of the time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the instrument), distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
  • Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
