Supervisory

  • Act as first-line supervisor to team members and provide coaching, performance reviews, regular 1 on 1 meets and other administrative functions. The leader will also interface with Site Leader to ensure key customer contacts and customer satisfaction is at a high-level.
  • Lead the Laboratory Support Coordinator (LSC) team to ensure the delivery of uninterrupted service to the customers. To accomplish this, the individual must drive operational excellence by strategically managing resources as well as identifying areas of improvement.
  • Work in accordance with all regulations and requirements for each customer site and/or department following GxP guidelines for ways of working and process documentation.
  • Responsible for the coordination of training of all Lab Support Coordinators (LSC)
  • Ensure adequate planning and coordination of team coverage to meet customer needs and achieve established operational metrics (e.g., PTO, Sick)
  • Act as a liaison between on-site staff and management to escalate critical issues.
  • Attend floor/building oversight meetings.
  • Facilitate regular LSC meetings/huddles
  • Participate in the interview panel for all LSC hires.
  • Plan and execute continuous improvement projects within the LSC team, including mentoring and assisting with Six Sigma Belts or 5S projects
  • Perform other reasonable duties as deemed necessary.

Laboratory Support Responsibilities

  • To provide a general induction/orientation for new members of staff and visitors. 
  • To provide coordination of a 5S lean service.
  • To work with Customer and PerkinElmer staff to ensure quality and compliance within the laboratory.
  • To be the first line of support for infrastructure, engineering, purchasing, IT and other service providers; reporting of faults and ensuring these are closed out in a timely manner, i.e. to act as a single point of contact and help ensure minimal disruption. 
  • Meet regularly with laboratory service providers to ensure open lines of communication.
  • Meet regularly with key stakeholders (lab staff, service providers, management) to identify, review and resolve issues in a timely manner and/or escalate as necessary.
  • To be point of contact for equipment maintenance in liaison with Asset Management team and customer lab staff, facilitating scheduling and escorting of engineering visits for maintenance and/or repair.
  • To help coordinate and oversee lab stocks in liaison with site stores. Ensures appropriate tracking and safe delivery and storage of goods in the lab.
  • To help coordinate the working environment with lab staff and PerkinElmer e.g. lab space, availability of PPE, and removal of redundant equipment, etc.
  • To work in collaboration with Customer line safety reps to ensure a high level of safety is maintained in the lab.
  • To coordinate the provision of lab services (e.g., gases/LN2/dry ice/deep cleans) by liaison with lab support services staff.
  • To provide timely communication to lab users on impact of any site service work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years of experience in a customer facing role
  • Minimum of 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role leading others and delivering administrative functions (i.e., Performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline including military experience. Business or Management Degree also meets criteria.
  • Experience working in a research laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices as defined by the Company and/or the customer’s site safety code.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer to enter data and generate reports, ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, managers, customers, and other technical support professionals is critical to successful performance in this role
  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills.
  • Knowledge of 5S principles.
  • Working understanding of GLP/GxP.
  • Experience of working in a compliance driven environment.

  • Demonstrates appropriate use of relevant equipment/software after training
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills complimented by an ability to listen to and interpret client requests.
  • Aptitude for technical and practical matters.
  • MS Office Skills: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word. 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remains in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside and outside labs
  • Occasionally operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
  • Regularly move or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally move or lift up to 100 pounds 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the instrument), distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. multi-function machine)

  • Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
  • Ensure safety, security, and the environment in all aspect of the daily activities, and any potential safety hazards are addressed and corrected immediately.
  • Understand ergonomic relationship between people, equipment and working environment.
